A beautiful map of the Australian region and Pacific. The map is surrounded by a very decorative border depicting scenes from the Pacific.
This map comes from one of the last ornate atlases of the 19th century. Levassuer's atlas is something to be admired. The quality of the decorative border is superb. The majority of Levasseur's atlas is dedicated to French colonies and regions in France. 'Oceanie' is one of only a few maps that show the general regions of the world being Asia, Oceanie, Africa, the Americas, Europe, and the World.
