Cook and Roberts' world map was first published in 1784. This edition by Faden was updated to include new discoveries. One of the new discoveries inlcude the inclusion of Lord Howe Island, discovered in 1788 during the settlement of Europeans in Australia.

Unlike the earlier edition engraved by Palmer, Faden's edition is printed on woven and not laid paper. The full sheet is made up with two joined sheets instead of the earlier one. And a number of other differences such as the legend of Cook's tracks being placed on the bottom left instead of right side can be noted.
