A rare first edition of the exploration of Torres Strait, The Great Barrier Reef, and the coasts of New Guinea during the 1840s by HMS Rattelsnake on their hydrographical voyage as set about by the Admiralty. Interestingly the volumes also detail the account of the tragic Kennedy expedition that set off from Rockingham Bay in Queensland. The volumes are noted as “the last and most difficult to find today of the great series of exploration journals published in London by T. & W. Boone during the heroic age of Australian exploration” (Horden House).
